The bike lane on Timoteo Lozano Boulevard, despite not being inaugurated, is already generating controversy due to its poorly executed design. Apparently, with the intention of preserving the trees in the area, the path in the median is obstructed, dangerous, and impractical.
A user commented that upon receiving the extension of Timoteo Lozano to Tajo de Santa Ana, these deficiencies in the bike lane should be corrected, highlighting the importance of respecting the trees but pointing out the lack of a clear and safe route. The decision to design the bike lane this way is questioned, revealing poor planning.
The bike lane is part of the expansion of Timoteo Lozano Boulevard, which will have three lanes in each direction for vehicle traffic to make space for the median. With a length of approximately 1.7 kilometers, the bike lane aims to connect the city center, linking with one of the main entrance and exit boulevards of León and decongesting Boulevard Aeropuerto.
According to the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Connectivity and Transport (SICOM), the central median is 13 meters wide, while the bike lane is three meters wide, located between the lanes and the sidewalks. The problematic section is located near the El Mayorazgo subdivision, where several mesquite trees over three meters high obstruct the passage.
Despite requests on social media for Mayor Alejandra Gutiérrez to intervene and review the problem, no official response has been received so far.
